From
Kathmandu, you enjoy an exciting flight to Lukla (2860m, 9384ft).
Trek to
Phakding. (2622m, 8603ft). Take some time to
visit the monastery located in the rocks above Chheplung. Cross
over the Dudh Kosi River to the west bank to reach the lodge.

Trek to Namche Bazar
(3340m, 10959ft). Sagarmatha National Park has
its new entrance here and you will have to show your permit. The path then climbs above the valley floor to one
of the highest suspension bridges in Nepal. From there the trail continues
climbing steeply through the forest. Namche Bazar is the largest
village and the administrative center of the Khumbu region. Situated in
a horseshoe-shaped valley high above the Bhote Kosi and surrounded by
steep hills, it faces the impressive north face of Mt. Kwangde peak (6187m).

Trek to
Khumjung (3790m, 12435ft), called the green valley. One of the most
interesting hikes is the climb up the hill north of town to the
Shyangboche airstrip area and Khumjung. You will enjoy the fantastic
view of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Kangtega, Thamserku and Ama Dablam. Visit
the local Khumjung Gompa, the school, hike to Kunde and visit the
hospital and the Gompa. |

Trek to Thame.(3800m, 12468ft)
Thame is the last outpost on the ancient
trading route over the Nangpa La Pass between Tibet and NepalFrom now on you will enjoy
the splendor of world's highest and impressive mountains. Your tented
camp will be in Thyangmoche, close to one of the oldest stupa's on the
old trading route to Tibet. In the afternoon visit the interesting and
famous monastery of Thame. |

Completely out of the
busy trekking trails, you follow the left side of the river and cross
the bridge near Marilung, a yak settlement. From now on you start
climbing slowly to Langden.(4350m, 14272ft) |

From Angladumba Tso,
cross a moraine, take a traverse and a last short steep part before
crossing Renjo pass, (5340m, 17521ft) with your first view on a distant Gokyo Lake.
Fixed ropes will be placed if necessary and in case of snow. A
long and sometimes steep walk down to Gokyo Lake
(4750m, 15585ft). Depending your
conditions crossing and down will take you an intensive 5-6 hrs walk. |

"The day".
Gokyo Ri.(5463m, 17925ft) Not only
Everest, but Cho Oyu, Nangpai Gossum, Gyachung Kang, Chumbu, Cholo,
Kangchung, Taboche, Pumori, Lhotse, Cholatse, Lobuche peak,
Thamserku, Kangtega. This day gives you the opportunity to reach the best view point in whole Khumbu region. After this
intensive, but spectacular climb, back down to lake 5 for lunch. After
lunch, we continue to Luza, (4390m, 14404ft) |

Trek to Namche Bazar
(3340m, 10959ft). Down to Phortse Tanga, then steep up to Mong La. Have
lunch in Mong La, one of the best view points to Mt. Ama Dablam.Again
down to Sanasa and Melingo. Then follow the smooth trail bringing you to
Namche Bazar. |

Trek to
Lukla. Down hill through the pine forest leaving behind
Everest and cross the several bridge on the Dudkosi river. Enjoy the greener
vegetation and cultivation along the Sherpa villages. Have lunch in
Phakding. There is no rush to reach Lukla today. On arrival
stay at a hotel near the airstrip. The airstrip itself is an interesting
place. Without actually seeing it happen, you might not believe a
nineteen-passenger plane could fly in and out of here. |

Fly back to Kathmandu.
Transfer to hotel. |

Grading |
This trek
to Gokyo Lake by Renjo Pass is strenuous but does not require
that you have any previous trekking or mountaineering
experience. It does not require any technical
experience; only that you be in good physical
conditioning and be able to hike for 6-9 hours over
hilly terrain with a light day pack. Experienced Sherpa
guides will be assisting you.
